11. The neutral business standard - CE principle
Anyone wishing to measure and assess objectively needs a standard
Calibration point 1
Optimum medical provision from
a business point of view
The cornerstones of the standard are two general calibration points for the practice/hospital (see also 12.). Ideally, all activities and decisions need to have a positive effect on turnover, and in particular on the hospital’s profit and on patient benefit.
Practice/clinic
In the event of differences of opinion relating to procedure, decisions etc., all opinions must initially be accepted. Every opinion needs to be examined, in order to determine which offers greater benefit to the practice/hospital and the patient. The opinion that has nothing to do with either must be changed, and the opinion that benefits the practice/hospital and the patient must be implemented accordingly. If someone does not accept this, he is consciously acting contrary to the goals of the practice/hospital and must accept the consequences. Practical application of the neutral business standard requires some practice and experience. It is a measure that creates trust and acceptance in the employee and also represents a fair selection method.
Patient’s decision-making freedom
(defined patient orientation)
Calibration point 2
(calibration: adjusting a measuring device to generally applicable standards, e.g. weighing scales, thermometer)
calibration points 1 and 2: adjusting understanding to generally applicable business standards
